This was my first time dining at this restaurant. I came this passing week just before the kitchen closed and had a really delicious meal. I enjoyed the Blackened chicken salad with avocado and tomato and a delicious app of teriyaki honey wings… What a fabulous presentation and I had a wonderful server. Her name was Donna. Very sweet & friendly… I would give this place five stars for presentation food & ambiance …very chill. Nice environment, a pleasant vibe in the neighborhood. I shall return. I was impressed…. Thank you for a delicious meal.
This is the best bar/restaurant in the Bronx, and one of the best in all NYC. Located just across the street from historic Van Cortlandt Park, this place is amazing… the food, the staff, the vibe… you can walk outside and hang in the park. We’ve held our annual event here each year, and so many of our guests come back for the experience here, at the Tortoise & Hare. We wanted to try this place for the regular menu on a Saturday afternoon but was meet with the Brunch menu. We got the Irish Toastie and the French onion dumplings. The sandwich was OK, hashbrown was good (not that you can mess up a pre-made hashbrown) and the homemade slaw wasn’t bad. We were looking forward to the FO dumplings but we’re very disappointed. They didn’t quite taste like what we were expecting and the cheese was good but a little excessively salty. Service wasn’t bad and the drinks were OK. My Bloody Mary was very spicy so I tonned the 2nd down. She got the French espresso martini which she thought was too sweet but that’s not their fault. We should have asked.
