Consistently good food with generous portions. Food is well seasoned. Each table gets a starter with salad, garlic bread, a crusty loaf, cornbread and pickled vegetables. Service is fast and in addition to standard sides, yellow rice and corn on the cob are also served. Servers are pleasant. There will be enough leftovers for a hearty meal the next day. The bill will add up.
I had dinner here with a group of family members recently and were seated at our reserved time at 6:15. We were waited on by Ahmad, who was very helpful, gracious, and accommodating. I was thoroughly surprised by the food portion!! It’s a good thing we didn’t order appetizers lol Our meals were paired with complimentary side of cornbread, bread roll with a slice of cheese, a small tray of olives, cauliflower and roasted bell pepper in a vinegar marinade as well as corn on the cob with yellow rice. In addition, we ate a standard salad with a choice of dressing. Like I mentioned earlier, food was plentiful and presented beautifully. Well fried, not overly greasy but bland in taste. If the batter that was used to fry the food were well seasoned, I would’ve been over the moon! Also, although shrimp were extra large, I dislike it when they aren’t de-veined. No amount of breading can hide that. The drinks were good, and we all had a great time.
This is the about my fourth time coming here over the years, I keep coming back because of the very good service I get from the entrance to the waiter service and the family style food plating. My wife and I came and both ordered their famous fried jumbo shrimp that came with fries and coleslaw. Before hand we were served some garlic bread and some other very good cheese with another loaf of bread that had a crispy crust on the outside and warm and soft in the middle with a side order of drinks, I had a Long Island iced tea and she had a form of a piña colada mix with strawberry. Overall the food was very satisfying and very filling and I was able to bring some back home. Sammy’s is one of those places you can come on a date or with family and have a good meal and leave happy.
